Richard Conway attended Chowan College from 1964-1966. Conway was a duel sport athlete, but was most known for his accomplishments on the track.
In 1965-66 he was named to the NJCAA first team All-Region team for football. During his time at Chowan, Conway set school records for the high jump, triple jump, long jump, and pole vault. Conway averaged 27 points per meet. He was also named the Most Outstanding Athlete in 1966 for the Braves.
Conway continued his education and track pursuit at the College of William and Mary from 1966-1969 on a track scholarship. While with the Tribe he set school records for high jump and triple jump (indoor and outdoor seasons) and also hurdle relay team. He was also the State of Virginia Open Division Decathlon Champion in 1967 and 1968.
Conway is now in the insurance business.
