Antwain Haskins came to Chowan from Crewe, Virginia in the fall of 1996 as a student- athlete focused on playing basketball.  He was a major contributor to the junior varsity team as well as a supportive practice player on the varsity team.  After two seasons on the J.V. basketball squad, Haskins turned his attention to football – something he had not played since his middle school days. 

As a defensive back, Haskins helped the Braves football team to its first winning season in 1999. Chowan had its most successful years ever competing in the ACFC during 1998-2000.  During his football tenure Haskins earned several honors and awards including:
  • All-American South Region Defensive Back - 1998
  • Second Team Defense - 1998
  • Honorable Mention All-American Defensive Back - 1999
  • Best Defensive Back - 1998
  • Best Defensive Back - 1999
  • The Jerry Holmes Defensive Back of the Year - 1999
  • ACFC Recognition First Team Defense -1999
  • ACFC All-Conference First Team - 1999
  • The Ralph Thurston Award on Defense Most Valuable Player - 2000
  • All-Conference First Team Defense - 2000
  • The Jerry Holmes Defensive Back of the Year  - 2000
  • Ranked Third in the Nation for Interceptions - 1999-2000
  • Chowan School Record for Fumble Recovery for a 99 Yard Touchdown - 2000
  • Outstanding Male Athlete - 2000
 
After graduating from Chowan in 2001, Haskins accepted an Assistant Manager position with Bally Total Fitness in Hampton, Virginia. He went back to school to earn his Master's Degree in Sport Coaching and he has been a Certified Personal Trainer for over 10 years. 

Haskins opened his own personal fitness studio, Studio A Fitness, in Williamsburg, Virginia in 2010. He holds various specialized certifications such as Holistic Fitness, Older Adult Fitness Foundations, Boot Camp, Plyometric Training, and Senior Fitness and Nutrition. 

Haskins enjoys golfing, competing in sports and spending time with his wife, Colleen, son, Rio and two stepsons, Remi and Niko.  The Haskins currently reside in Williamsburg, Virginia.
