Kenneth “Kenny” Reynolds grew up in Wilmington, Delaware where he was an All-State basketball player at Concord High School. In 1984, Reynolds was named Delaware’s High School Player of the Year. His playing ability caught the attention of then Braves head coach, Bob Burke. “Kenny was truly a complete power forward,” Burke said of Reynolds. Burke, along with Reynolds, led Chowan to an amazing 27-4 record in the 1984-1985 season.

Over two seasons with Chowan, Reynolds helped the team to a 48-14 record, including the 27-4 season in 1984-85. Kenny threw up solid numbers in just two years. In his sophomore season, he averaged 18 points an outing and 10 rebounds a game. He was selected to the All-Region 10 Team that same season. In two seasons, he finished with 882 career points and 525 rebounds.  In 1986, he was invited to play in the National Junior College All-Star game in Midland, Texas.

Burke commented regarding Reynolds’ play, “Kenny was an all around player and athlete. His rebounding and scoring stats would have been much higher than they were had he not played on teams with six Division I players.”

Reynolds left Chowan to continue his education and playing career at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. He played with his younger brother Jeff for two seasons. Reynolds helped to make UMBC a solid team as it entered the Division I ranks.

Reynolds averaged 11 rebounds and 18 points during his two years at UMBC under the guidance of Coach Jeff Bzdelik. Reynolds finished with 951 career points and 525 career reounds at UMBC. He was offered an opportunity to try out with the Washington Wizards in the NBA after he graduated in 1989.

Reynolds has been working in the trucking business for more than 11 years. He is married to Jeannette Pamela Reynolds. Together they have seven children, Kenise, Kenneth, Paul, Iyanna, Amber, Elijah, and Armani. They also have five grandchildren.
