Nicholas Hagler came to Chowan from Timberlake, N.C. in the fall of 2001 as a student- athlete focused on playing baseball.  He was a major contributor to the varsity team from 2002-2006.

Hagler played under Steve Flack for three seasons and Aaron Carroll for one. He was an outstanding player while at Chowan. As a right fielder, he was known for his arm strength. He was no slouch at the plate either after hitting for a .374 (3rd best) career average.  At one time, he held the DIII program record for career homeruns (23), career runs scored (147), and still leads the record book in career stolen bases (101). Over his career he tallied a .586 slugging percentage, 194 career hits, 31 career doubles, and 105 runs batted in. During his time as a then-Brave, Hagler earned several honors and awards including:

  • 2002 USA South Second Team

  • 2002 USA South All-Tournament

  • 2003 USA South Second Team

  • 2003 USA South All-Tournament

  • 2003 All-South Region Honorable Mention

  • 2004 USA South First Team

  • 2004 USA South Player of the Year

  • 2004 Chowan Male Athlete of the Year

  • 2004 ABCA/NCAA All American

 
After graduating from Chowan in 2007, Hagler moved to California and became a Personal Trainer in Oakland, Calif. He went back to school in 2011 to earn his degree in Respiratory Therapy. He is now a Respiratory Therapist for a pediatric/neonatal critical care transport team at Carolina Air Care (UNC Hospitals). 

Nick enjoys golfing, competing in triathlons, and spending time with his wife, Adrienne and sons, Jaxson and Jameson.  The Haglers currently reside in Rougemont, N.C.
