Larry Canady attended Chowan College from 1980-1982. He was the first Chowan Basketball player to be named a NJCAA All-American Honorable Mention and was a member of  the first team of Chowan’s legendary Coach Bob Burke.

Canady was the team’s leading scorer and rebounder. He helped lead Chowan to a new school record of 27 wins in Burke’s first year, bettering the old mark by 5 games. He was also a team captain for the Braves basketball team. Canady led the Braves to the Region X finals and finished the season with a 27-6 record. Canady graduated from Chowan in 1982 with an Associate’s Degree.

Canady received a scholarship from Campbell University where he led the team for two years in rebounding. In those years at Campbell, he was named All-Conference and All-Region.

Canady is involved with a major stereo outlet company in North Carolina.
