Michael J. Niemotka was born in Hampton, Virginia. Niemotka arrived on the campus of Chowan in the fall of 1991 where he immediately impacted the Chowan baseball program. Niemotka was a four year starter at Chowan and accumulated many accolades throughout his playing career.
NIemotka’s career awards, while at Chowan, started in his freshman year of 1991-92 when he was awarded the Hitting Award. Then, in his sophomore year, he received a slew of awards including the Pitching Award, Team MVP, Male Athlete of the Year and 1st Team All South Region as a pitcher.
Along with awards, NIemotka also accumulated career and single season stas that compare to some of the best players to have played at Chowan. His career statistics include most wins in a season with 13. Niemotka racked up 32 wins over his career striking out 357 batters. Niemotka also tallied 147 strikeouts in a single season.
These awards and career numbers tell the tale of a man who impacted the baseball program here at Chowan during his playing years. However, Noemotka’s association with the program did not end there.
After graduating in 1995 with an Associate’s Degree, Niemotka stayed with the Chowan baseball program and became the pitching coach from 1995-97.
Eventually, Niemotka left Chowan and began another career. He first started in New Bern, North Carolina in 1999 working with the fourth largest contractor in the world, Raytheon Systems, at the Cherry Point Marine base in Havelock, North Carolina. In February of 2000, after working there for a year, Niemotkal transferred to Anniston, Alabama. He became the Deputy Site Manager who overlooks all of the operations on site.
Niemotka is married to Jennifer Niemotka and has a daughter, Taylor Ann Niemotka.
