The Pond Football Center was named for he and his wife Juanita in recognition of their unwavering support of Chowan over many years.

His long-time service extends beyond his alma mater to his community where his dedication to the Colonial Virginia Council of the Boy Scouts of America, where he serves on the Executive Committee and is Chair of the Development Committee, has been recognized with the prestigious Silver Beaver Award.

Charles and Juanita are members of Windsor Christian Church in Windsor, Virginia, and he has served as a representative to the Religious Herald’s Board of Trustees. Pond is also a founding member of the Suffolk Center for the Cultural Arts and is currently the Treasurer.
