Dr. Lisa Dabney was a three-sport athlete at Chowan College while maintaining one of the highest academic standings with a 3.97 GPA. A member of the prestigious Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, Dabney was named to the Presidents List all four of her semesters at Chowan. She was named Best All Around Student her sophmore year as well as being selected Female Athlete of the Year in 1975.

A disciplined student, Dabney was also a dedicated athlete, playing volleyball and basketball along with being the only girl on the men's tennis team her freshman year. She was named to the All-Conference and All-Tournament teams in both volleyball and basketball her sophmore season as well as being team captain for both programs. A selection to Who’s Who in American Junior Colleges, runner-up in the Miss.Spring Festival, and President of the Student Government Association were also highlights in a superb blending of academics and athletics over her two seasons as a Lady Brave.

Dabney earned her Bachelors Degree from William and Mary in the Spring of 1978, moving on to James Madison with a Masters of Science degree graduating Magna Cum Laude. In 1985, Dabney realized her dreams of becoming a physician when she graduated from Eastern Virginia Medical School earning her Doctor of Medicine.

Dabney now lives in Blackstone, Virginia, where she is associated with the Medical College of Virginia and is a resident physician at Blackstone Family Practice. She is the daughter of Eugene H. Dabney Jr.  Dabney had one sister , Mrs. Scott Austin, and four nephews, Christopher, Hunter, Waller, and Jonathan.
