In today’s era of athletics, it’s rare to find athletes that can play two sports at the collegiate level and balance academics at the same time. Perry Agee proved it could be done during his two-year stay in Murfreesboro.
Agee wore the famed blue and white for legendary coach Jim Garrison on the gridiron and showcased his abilities on the baseball diamond for Jerry Hawkins. To go with lettering in football and baseball both years as a Brave, Agee also earned honor student credentials as a member of Phi Theta Kappa and was named as Chowan’s Best All-round Student for the 1982 graduating class.
During his two-year stay in Murfreesboro, Agee represented Chowan in the East-West All-Star football game in 1981.
After his two-year stay in Murfreesboro, Agee traded in the Chowan blue and white for the maroon and orange of Virginia Tech.
During his stay in Blacksburg, Agee lettered in football and baseball two years, as he did as a Brave.
As a member of the Hokies football team, Agee participated in the 1984 Independence Bowl, where Virginia Tech faced off against Air Force. Agee also shined on the baseball diamond while wearing the maroon and orange, as he earned All-Metro Tournament Team honors in 1985.
After receiving an Associate’s degree in Murfreesboro while attending Chowan, Agee received a degree in Industrial Forestry at Virginia Tech.
Agee is married to Yvonne and have two daughters,Kathryn and Jessica.
