Earl Cleghorn is a native of Norfolk, Virginia and a graduate of Granby High School. He was a standout player for Chowan football on the 1963 and 1964 teams.

Following Chowan graduation in 1965, Cleghorn went on to Temple University and played on the 1965 and 1966 football teams.

Later, Cleghorn began a career at Temple and served the University for more than 15 years in various capacities. One of those capacities was as the associate director of athletics for men. Earl’s administrative responsibilities with the football program have included admissions, scholarships, financial aid, academic advising, registration and housing. Cleghorn has also been an assistant football coach, the Owl’s chief scout and head recruiter.
