Hall of Fame
Greg Hollingsworth came to Chowan in 1983 after graduating from Hoke County High School in Raeford, North Carolina. He came to play for a storied junior college program under legendary Chowan coach, Bob Burke. He experienced two very successful seasons as a player for the then-Braves, helping the team in his first year to a 30-9 record and a NJCAA Final Four appearance in Hutchinson, Kansas.

Hollingsworth was an integral part of two very successful at Chowan and helped the program compile a 57-13 overall record during the 1983-84 and 1984-85 seasons. In his sophomore season Hollingsworth averaged 17.2 points per game and dished out 132 season assists from the point guard position. He helped to guide the team to a 27-4 season record, but fell just a game short of making the repeat trip back to Kansas. HOllingsworth was honored as an All-Region X player that season after leading the team and the league in scoring.

Following his graduation from Chowan in 1986, Hollingworth continued with his basketball prowess at the University of South Florida where he was offered a basketball scholarship. In his final season at the University of South Florida, Hollingsworth put up 14 points an outing and was named Co-Captain.

Hollingsworth went on to work for Mount Aire Farms in Lumberbridge, North Carolina. He also serves as a motivational speaker and mentor for troubled high school students and disadvantaged youth. He is active in the Raeford community and is a member of New Hope Temple Holiness Church. He volunteers his free time in the church community delivering meals and performing lawn services for the elderly and disadvantaged.

Hollingsworth has five children, Micheaux, Jasmine, Cicley, Jamerson, and Elijah. He also has three grandchildren. He attributes his successes in life to the unwavering support of his family and community.
