Box Score 2 RALEIGH, NC - The baseball team picked up their first CIAA wins of the season after sweeping Shaw University in a doubleheader with final scores of 21-2 and 5-1. Chowan's
Nate Mitchell had nine RBI and three homeruns in the doubleheader. Today's wins improve their overall record to 9-13-1 and 2-3 in CIAA play.
The Hawks collected 19 hits in the 21-2 win with Mitchell going 4-4 with two homeruns and a double. He posted six RBI and scored five runs.
Brandon Mack was 4-4 with five runs scored while
Adam Capps was 2-3 with a homerun.
Justin Shockley collected three hits on the day.
Andrew Hales pitched the win. He threw a complete game, giving up seven hits and striking out nine batters.
Ryan Bradshaw pitched the 5-1 nightcap win. He threw 4.2 nnings, giving up four hits and one run.
Tyler Chelenza picked up the save after throwing the last 1.1 innings. Mitchell was 2-4 with three RBI and a homerun while Capps was 2-2.
The Hawks will return to the field on Monday as they host Elizabeth City State University in a single game. First pitch is slated for 2:00pm at Hawkins Field.
