MURFREESBORO, N.C. - The Chowan University baseball team wrapped up their three game series with Southern Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon. Chowan dropped the final game of the series 18-10, but posted 12 hits in the game. Derrick Davis hammered two doubles in a 3-5 plate performance with two RBI and a run scored.

Chowan jumped out to an early lead in the game, plating three runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Southern Wesleyan answered with a five-run 3rd inning to take a 5-3 lead. Chowan made a two out rally in their ensuing at-bat, scoring three runs to take the lead back at 6-5, paced by Davis' two RBI single. SWU went on to score 10 runs in their final three at-bats to help propel them to the 18-10 win over the Hawks.
Davis led the way offensively for the Hawks with two doubles and two RBI on a 3-5 plate performance. KJ Durand, Jr. collected two hits and two RBI with a run scored and a double. Jordan Turner continued to swing the bat well, going 2-4 with a run scored. Ahmaad Goldson collected two RBI on a 2-4 hitting day while Bryson Ponsock went 2-5 with two runs scored and a double.
Josh Tripp picked up the loss after throwing a tightly contested 5 innings. He gave up six hits and struck out one batter. Kelton Taylor, Cody Ives, Ethan Pukas, and Tristan Stancil threw in relief of Tripp.
