DANVILLE, VA - The Chowan University baseball team dropped a non-conference matchup to Averett University on Wednesday afternoon. Josh Tripp accounted for the Hawks' lone run, scoring in the sixth inning.

INSIDE THE BOXSCOREÂ
Jacob Howard recorded the Hawks' first hit of the game in the second inning with a single through the right side. Ahmaad Goldson followed with a single up the middle in the third.
Chowan broke through in the sixth inning when Josh Tripp reached base on a walk, stole second, advanced to third, and later scored on an RBI by Derrick Davis.
Tripp added another hit with a single to center field in the eighth inning, while Davis capped the Hawks' offensive efforts with a single in the ninth. Defensively, Chowan held Averett scoreless over the final innings.
On the mound, Cody Ives earned the start, pitching one inning. Christopher Tankersley, Tristan Stancil, Ethan Pukas, Landon Tyndall, Teray Cherry, Zackary Wilson, and Dawson Wiggins each made relief appearances.
UP NEXT
The Hawks return home to host Southern Wesleyan in a three-game series beginning Friday with a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 PM, followed by game two at 3:00 PM.
