MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan University volleyball team outpaced Erskine College in a Conference Carolinas matchup on Friday evening inside Bob Burke Court. After the Flying Fleet claimed the opening set, the Hawks responded by taking the next three to secure a 3-1 victory on their home court.

Freshman Alexa Fricker led all players with a career-high 21 kills, while Andrea Krgovic directed the Chowan offense with a season-high 47 assists. 

As a team, Chowan held the advantage over Erskine in several statistical categories, finishing with 56 kills to the Flying Fleet's 41 and 72 digs to their 55. The Hawks also totaled 55 assists, eight service aces and seven blocks, compared to Erskine's 35 assists, four service aces and four blocks.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

Fricker added nine digs, one service ace and one assist to her match-high 21 kills. Alanna Verme turned in a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs while adding one service ace and one assist.

Rosa Lynn Collier and Madison Henderson each contributed eight kills to the Hawks' attack. Collier also recorded two block assists, one solo block, two digs and one assist, while Henderson added three block assists.

Jada Caruthers finished with seven kills, four digs and one service ace. Krgovic complemented her career-high 47 assists with eight digs and one service ace, while Anna Holcombe led the defensive effort with a match-high 26 digs to go along with three assists and two service aces.

UP NEXT

Chowan returns to Bob Burke Court on Saturday to host Belmont Abbey College. The varsity match is slated for a 1:00 PM start, followed by developmental volleyball at 3:00 PM.
