ROME, GA – The Chowan University volleyball team battled through three tightly contested sets against Shorter University in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks remained close in each set, with the third coming to a 27-25 final, but came up short as Shorter secured the 3-0 victory.
Alexa Fricker led the Chowan attack with 10 kills, while Anna Holcombe paced the defensive effort with 14 digs. Andrea Krgovic directed the offense with 32 assists while adding seven digs.

Fricker led the Hawks with 10 kills while adding seven digs. Jada Caruthers and Alanna Verme followed with nine kills apiece. Caruthers added four digs, one service ace and one block, while Verme contributed five digs, two service aces and a block assist.
Madison Henderson finished with six kills, three blocks, one block assist and one dig, while Rosa Lynn Collier added five kills and one dig to round out the Chowan attack.
Krgovic recorded 32 assists, seven digs, one service ace and one kill. Holcombe led the Hawks defensively with 14 digs while also adding a service ace.
