BRISTOL, TN. – The Chowan University volleyball team squared off against King University through five sets on Saturday afternoon, taking the opening two sets before the Tornado rallied to claim the final three.
The Hawks opened the game with a 25-22 victory in the first set before carrying the momentum into the second, taking the frame 25-18 for a 2-0 advantage. King responded in the third set with a 25-19 win before edging Chowan 25-23 in the fourth to force a deciding fifth set. The two teams remained close throughout the final set, as the Tornado would ultimately claim a 15-13 victory.
Anna Holcombe highlighted the defensive effort for Chowan with a career-high 30 digs to lead all players.

Alexa Fricker led the Chowan offense with 16 kills while adding 12 digs, one block and one service ace. Madison Henderson finished with 11 kills, two digs, two block assists and one assist.
Jada Caruthers recorded seven kills, a team-high three block assists and two digs, while Rosa Lynn Collier added seven kills and two blocks. Alauna Wilson-Linn contributed four kills and five digs, while Mills finished with two kills and six digs.
Alongside Holcombe's 30 digs, she would add a season-high, five service aces and two assists. Andrea Krgovic directed the Hawks' offense with 41 assists while adding 14 digs, two service aces and two block assists.
