PINEHURST, NC -The Chowan University men's golf team competed in the second and final round of play at the Brown Golf Intercollegiate on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks finished in 11
th place out of 12 teams competing in the tournament. Chowan combined efforts for a team score of 645 over the course of the two-day competition.
St. Thomas Aquinas won the Brown Golf Intercollegiate title with a two-day score of 588, and held a nine stroke advantage over runner-up, West Chester University (597).
Michael Miranda from St. Thomas took home individual medalist honors with a 69 round score and two-day total of 139.
Chowan's
Jordan Francis finished tied for 30
th place individually in the 89-golfer field. He shot a 79 in the second round after posting a score of 76 in the first round, for a two-day total of 155. After carding a 82 in the opening round,
Billy Britton then shot an 77 on the final day of play, finishing with a total score of 159 and tying him for 45
th place.
Rich Edwards turned in an 82 in both rounds for a 164 two-day total and finished tied for 58
th place overall, while
Steven Rhinard improved his day two score (79) by 10 strokes for a 168 two-day total.
Christian Fleetwood shaved off 11 strokes of his opening round (90), to score a total of 171 for the tournament.
Dale Davis competed as in individual for Chowan. Davis shot a 80 on Saturday for a 170 two-day total.
The Hawks will return to action on March 19
th – 21
st when they travel to China Grove, North Carolina to participate in the CIAA Southern hosted by Livingstone College.
