Box Score ELIZABETH CITY, NC - The Chowan University baseball team came out on the winning end of an 18-14 slug fest at Elizabeth City State on Tuesday afternoon.
Justin Bagbey and
Ryan Moore each blasted two homeruns in the win.
Josh Catalano and
Brandon Mack also homered in the win. The Hawks improve to 23-20 overall and 14-4 in the CIAA after coming from behind to drop the Vikings today.
The Hawks scored nine runs over their final three at-bats to erase a 12-9 deficit. The Vikings made a run in their final at-bat with two runs of their own but they were stopped short and the slug fest game came to an end with Chowan on top.
Ryan Moore started the game for Chowan but it was
Anthony O'Brien who picked up the win. O'Brien pitched 4.1 innings and gave up two earned runs on 10 hits.
Evan Hart picked up his fourth save of the season after coming in to close the game out in the 9th inning.
Chowan pounded out 17 hits in the game and six Hawks garnered multiple hits. Moore ended the game 3-4 with two homeruns and two RBI while teammate Bagbey blasted his seventh and eighth homeruns of the season. He collected four RBI in the win.
Evan Seymour was 3-4 with an RBI and a double and Mack was 2-6 with three RBI and a homerun. Willie Ward came in the game to get two hits and two RBI.
Chowan wrapped up CIAA regular season play with today's game. They currently sit in 2nd place behind Winston-Salem State (14-2). The Hawks will host their final games of the regular season on Wednesday against Saint Andrews College. First pitch is set for 1:00pm and will be a doubleheader.
