Box Score MURFREESBORO - A late rally by Chowan fell short at Hawkins Field this afternoon as the Hawks dropped a 9-5 decision to Mercyhurst University. The Lakers took two out of the three games in the series. Chowan left 16 runners stranded in the game and out hit the Lakers 13 to eight but Mercyhurst came up big with runners in scoring position to take the win. Brandon Mack and Ryan Moore each collected three hits in the loss.

Anthony O'Brien (0-1) picked up the loss on the mound after throwing the first 1.2 innings. He gave up three runs on two hits before being replaced by Josh Barmoy. Barmoy tossed 4.2 innings, scattering four hits and five runs. Both Brett Garrett and John Morris saw time in relief of Barmoy.

Brett Overton and William Ward each collected two hits. Overton knocked in two runs. Moore ended the day 3-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Chowan (1-3) will travel Saint Andrews College on February 16th in their next outing. They will return to Hawkins Field on Saturday for a doubleheader with East Stroudsburg University.
