Hawks Wrap Up Conference Road Slate at North Greenville

TIGERVILLE, S.C. - The Chowan University baseball team wrapped up its conference road slate on Saturday afternoon with games two and three against North Greenville University. Across the two contests, the Hawks tallied 10 runs on 14 hits, driving in 10 RBIs.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

Game One:

Chowan got on the board in the third inning as Derrick Davis crossed home following a double down the right field line by Josh Tripp. Peyton Clay kept the offense rolling with an RBI single up the middle, bringing Tripp in to score.

The Hawks added two more runs in the fifth inning. Jordan Turner singled up the middle and advanced on a throw, allowing Davis to score. Turner later crossed the plate for Chowan's final run of the game.

Davis led the way with two runs scored, while Turner recorded a run, a hit, and an RBI. Tripp finished with a run and two hits, and Clay added a hit and an RBI.

Ahmaad Goldson started on the mound, tossing 5.0 innings, while Zach Williams, Kelton Taylor, and Landon Tyndall provided relief.

Game Two:

The Hawks struck first in the second inning when Jacob Walker doubled down the right field line to bring in Goldson.

Chowan added to its total in the fourth inning as Bryson Ponsock reached on a fielding error that advanced Davis to third and scored Walker. Davis later came home in the inning to make it 3-0.

In the seventh, Jacob Howard singled to shortstop to plate Clay, and Reiss followed with a run off a sacrifice bunt by Goldson. The Hawks added their final run in the ninth when Goldson singled to right-center to score Messiah White.

Goldson and Reiss each tallied two hits and a run, while Davis, Clay, and Walker each recorded a hit and a run. Ponsock, Howard, and McDonald added hits, and White scored the final run.

Tripp earned the start on the mound, with Zackary Wilson, Ethan Pukas, Landon Tyndall, and Dawson Wiggins all seeing action in relief.

UP NEXT

Chowan returns home to host Belmont Abbey College for their final regular season series and Senior Day. A doubleheader is scheduled for Friday, April 24, beginning at 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM Senior Day recognition will take place Saturday, April 25, ahead of the final game, set for a 1:00 PM first pitch.
