Hawks Blow by Shaw on Senior Day

Senior Robert Weaver threw a one hitter in nightcap win
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MURFREESBORO - The baseball team took a twinbill from Shaw University in CIAA action this afternoon with final game scores of 13-3 and 14-2. The Hawks improve to 20-15-1 on the year and 13-5 in CIAA play after today's doubleheader sweep. The Hawks honored seven seniors before today's first pitch in Zac Caito, Spencer Fagan, John Kellett, Nate Mitchell, Nate Stanton, Mike Taylor, and Robert Weaver. 

Chowan collected 18 hits en route to the 13-3 win and held the Bears to seven hits. Justin Bagbey was 3-3 with an RBI while John Kellett and Stewart Barnette both had three hits. Adam Capps drove in two runs on two hits with a double. Andrew Hales picked up the win on the mound after throwing five innings of shut out ball. Spencer Fagan threw the final two innings in relief. 

Robert Weaver threw the nightcap win. He held the Bears to one hit through five innings for his third win of the season. He also struck out five batters. Nate Mitchell was 3-5 with five RBI with a homerun and Zac Caito was 2-2 with three RBI and a homerun. 

Chowan will travel to Elizabeth City State on Sunday in their outing.
