MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Baseball team altered their home opening series with East Stroudsburg for this weekend. The Hawks were scheduled to play a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday. Chowan will only play a doubleheader on Sunday.

Chowan enters the home series with a 1-2 overall record splitting the opening day before falling in the series finale against Coker.
Jack Kane leads the offense with a .455 batting average clubbing two doubles and four RBI over the series. Jared Fry is hitting .364 at the plate with two doubles and a home run. Tyler Jones, Noah Cartwright and Brock Cross each have a home run.
Walker Jones pitched 4.0 innings in the series allowing two hits. Caleb Peterson and Slade Cowan pitched 2.0 innings each out of the pen allowing only one hit combined and four strikeouts.
Shane Rademacher picked up the win on the mound against Coker.
COUNTERING THE WARRIORS
East Stroudsburg had an extra week to prepare for their opening games of 2020. The Warriors went 31-19 last season. The Warriors were picked to finish second in the PSAC East this season.
The Warriors return All-PSAC selections Brock Kauffman and Anthony Torreullas offensively. Torreullas hit .321 last season with 19 doubles and six home runs. Kauffman hit .306 with 15 doubles and 44 RBI.
Nate Fiala and Cam Voss return to the mound this season as starters for the Warriors. Fiala went 4-2, while Voss went 5-1 with 80 strikeouts last season. Joe Baran returns out of the pen with a 2.67 ERA and a 3-1 record.
