MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Baseball team opens the Conference Carolinas season with King in an altered weekend series.
The Hawks and Tornado will play a single nine inning game on Sunday with the doubleheader being played on Monday.

Chowan is 5-6 on the season after their four-game series split against Kutztown last weekend.
Jack Kane leads the team with a .361 batting average. Travis Cross improved his average to .286 after going 5-6 in the final two games of the series.
Jared Fry will look to return to the lineup hitting .320 with four home runs and nine RBI.
Wyatt Beakler is 0-2 this season with a team-low 2.45 ERA and 16 strikeouts. Caleb Peterson is 2-0 this season with a 2.70 ERA. Shane Rademacher is 2-1 on the mound this season.
Chowan took both meetings last season in a weather shortened series.
WEATHERING THE TORNADO
King enters the series with a 7-4 overall record. The Tornado saw their five-game win streak snapped in an 18-9 loss to Lincoln Memorial during the week.
Bennett McCann leads the team with a .406 batting average. Junior Renwick is hitting .395 with six doubles. Austin Meter has three home runs and 13 RBI.
Braden White is 3-0 on the mound this season with a 1.69 ERA. Erik Calderon Jr has three saves in five appearances with 13 strikeouts and a 3.18 ERA.
