MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Baseball team is fighting for a spot in the Conference Carolinas Baseball Championship next week as the Hawks travel to nationally-ranked North Greenville for the final series of the season.

HAWKS HIGHLIGHTS
Chowan dropped to 13-21-1 on the season after a neutral site loss to Francis Marion during the week. The Hawks sit in the final spot with a one game lead on King and Southern Wesleyan.
Marquise Lanier heads into the final series of the season leading the Conference Carolinas with a .433 batting average. Lanier is second in the league with 15 home runs, sixth in doubles (13) and RBI (44).
Nick Rose is second on the team with a .326 batting average including 13 doubles, five home runs, and 30 RBI.
Wyatt Beakler leads the team on the mound with a 4-5 record and 41 strikeouts. Vinny Puma is 2-0 with a 3.21 ERA in 13 appearances.
SLOWING THE CRUSADERS
North Greenville wrapped up the Conference Carolinas Regular Season title with a 19-5 record in league play. NGU is 33-9 on the season and ranked ninth in the country. The Crusaders are 20-4 at home this season.
The Crusaders are led by John Michael Faile at the plate with a .410 batting average (second in the league). Faile has 10 doubles, 13 home runs, and 51 RBI.
Tucker Burgess and Michael Giacone bolster the pitching staff for NGU with a 9-2 and 7-1 record on the hill respectively. Giacone leads the staff with a 2.16 ERA.
