Chowan picked up the series sweep against King (Tenn.) in the Conference Carolinas opener to improve to 6-2-1 on the season and 2-0 in the league.
Marquise Lanier is hitting a blistering .548 at the plate this year after going 7-9 against King. Lanier leads the team with 17 hits including six doubles, three home runs and 11 RBI.
Brock Cross is hitting .296 this season with eight hits. Cross drew four walks in the opening series. Jack Kane upped his average slightly after hitting .375 in the series against King with three hits recording a double and a home run.
Nick Rose is second on the team with eight RBI.
Ryan Gallaccio and Wyatt Beakler are 1-0 in Conference Carolinas play this season on the hill. Gallaccio tossed 6.0 innings of scoreless ball, while Beakler allowed one run in 7.0 innings of work.
LEASHING THE BULLDOGS
Barton is 12-7 on the season and 1-2 in Conference Carolinas play after falling to North Greenville in the league opener. The Bulldogs have played tough the past two contests picking up top-25 victories over North Greenville and Catawba.
The Bulldogs are 10-2 this season at home.
Jacob Marcos leads the team with a .371 batting average. The freshman has 23 hits and 20 RBI on the season. Colby Warren leads the team with three home runs and has 18 RBI on the season. Warren is also 1-3 on the hill this season with a 4.32 ERA.
