Hawks Tennis Hits the Road for Conference Action

MURFREESBORO, N.C.-The Chowan Men's and Women's Tennis teams kick-off their 2019 Conference play against Mount Olive on Tuesday, February 19.

HAWKS HIGHLIGHTS
For the Women:
Chowan dropped to 0-1 overall after falling to Division I opponent Longwood University 1-6. in their season opener.

Senior, Angelique Gouin picked up the lone win for the Hawks at the No.4 singles match 1-6, 4-3 by a forfeit from the Lancers.

ABOUT THE TROJANS
The Trojans enter the match after grabbing a 4-0 win over Bluefield State at the City of Florence College Tennis Invitational hosted by Francis Marion.

The women advanced to a 1-3 overall record on the year.

Chowan and Mount Olive last met during the 2018 season after the Hawks secured the 7-2 victory in conference action.

HAWKS HIGHLIGHTS
For the Men:

The men enter the contest 0-1 on the season after suffering a 0-7 loss to Longwood at home.

Mariano Yeh and Edmond Aynedjian grabbed the 7-5 victory for the Hawks in the number one doubles match.

Adi Kaliakperov and Louis Proulx was def. 6-4 at the No.2 doubles before the Lancers grabbed the No.3 doubles by default from Chowan.

ABOUT THE TROJANS
Mount Olive enters the league schedule with a 2-3 overall record after securing a clean 7-0 victory over Division III program Methodist, last Tuesday.

The two teams last met on February 27, 2018 when the Hawks hosted the Trojans at the Rose Family Tennis Courts.

Chowan wasn't able to overcome the match and suffered a 1-8 loss.
