Hawks Wrap Up Road Competition with Trip to Mount Olive

MOUNT OLIVE , N.C. - The Chowan University men's and women's tennis teams competed in a Conference Carolinas road match against University of Mount Olive on Friday afternoon. Felicitas Grillo and Aime Vera highlighted the day with a 6-2 victory at the #2 doubles position, but the Trojans claimed both team matches as the Hawks concluded their final conference road contest of the regular season.

Teams/Records:Chowan Men: 8-8 (5-5) / Chowan Women 5-13 (2-9)

Women

Marcia Aragon and Janna Lerma paired at #1 doubles, while Vera and Grillo secured a 6-2 win at #2. Feidi Abreu Rodriguez and Victoria Videla competed at #3 doubles, pushing their match to a tiebreak before falling 7-5.

In singles play, Mount Olive took all six matches. Aragon competed at #1, Rodriguez at #2, Grillo at #3, Vera at #4, Lerma at #5, and Diva Datta at #6.

Men

Marcel Ungerboeck and Tadeo Missan teamed up at #1 doubles, with David De Simon and Terumasa Inoue at #2, and Thales Sette alongside Tadeo Sanchez at #3. Mount Olive claimed all three doubles matches to earn the point.

In singles action, Ungerboeck battled in a three-set match at #1, taking the opening set 6-4 before dropping the final two sets in tiebreaks. Sette competed at #2, De Simon at #3, Inoue at #4, Missan at #5, and Maksim Kachuk at #6.

UP NEXT 

The Hawks return home to host Francis Marion University for Senior Day for their final regular season game at 2:00 PM at the Rose Family Tennis Complex.
