CU Swimming Picks Up Victory Over Virginia Wesleyan

NORFOLK, Va.-The Chowan Men's and Women's Swimming programs dominated the pool as they defeated Virginia Wesleyan on the road Saturday afternoon.

INSIDE THE POOL
200 Medley Relay
For the Women:
The Hawks won the event with Laurie-Ann, Julia Stegmaier, Jasmine Gibson, and Grace Arredondo who posted a time of 1:55.06

For the Men:
The A and B team took first and second place for the Hawks.

1000 Free
For the Women:
Atar Idrissi clocked a time of 12:17.68 to win event while Keitra Lloyd posted a 12:33.70 for the Hawks.

For the Men:
Igor Proszynski won the event with a time of 10:19.15 while Garrett Kirkland finished in second with a time of 11:23.51.

200 Free
For the Women:
After posting a 2:04.47 for Chowan Julia Stegmaier took home the win.  Grace Arredondo and Meghan Allen finished in second and third respectively.

For the Men:
Lucas Pels took home second with a time of 1:52.59. Shaine Olmstead touched the wall in 1:54.83 for a third place finish.

50 Free
For the Women:
Ashley Hernandez won the event with a 26.29. Jasmine Gibson clocked a time of 26.36 for second while Jeleah Delancy finished in third place.

For the Men:
After recording a 22.24, James Cameron won the event for the Hawks. Jordan Walker posted a 24.47 for third place.

200 IM
For the Women:
Laurie-Ann Sargent took first for Chowan with a time of 2:16.83 while Erin Garza placed second after swimming a 2:29.90.

For the Men:
Taylor Woodard won his event with a time of 2:14.88 for Chowan.

200 Fly
For the Women:
Winning the event for Chowan was Marissa Mann who swam a 2:29.77 in the meet. Jasmine Gibson finished in second.

For the Men:
Shaine Olmstead touched the wall in 2:05.19 for first place while Trace Austin taking second.

100 Free
For the Women:
After clocking a time of 57.44, Atar Idrissi placed first overall. Grace Arredondo took home second with a time of 57.62

For the Men:
David Clark won the event with a time of 50.37 for Chowan while James Cameron grabbed second place with a time of 51.16.

200 Back
For the Women:
With a time of 2:25.81 Ashley Hernandez won the event for the Hawks.

For the Men:
Andrew Simmons took home second place after posting a 2:15.09 in the meet.

500 Free
For the Women:
Marissa Mann recorded a 6:03.36 for the Blue and White to take first place. Keitra Lloyd finished in second with a time of 6:05.71.

For the Men:
With a time of 4:59.43, Igor Proszynski won the event while Lucas Pels and Justin Lough finished in second and third place respectively. 

200 Breast
For the Women:
Julia Stegmaier touched the wall in 2:36.69 for first place. Erin Garza swam a time of 2:46.71 while Mackenzie Lucy posted a 2:51.56.

For the Men:
Garrett Kirkland and Marshall Stevens finished in first and second place for Chowan. Kirkland clocked a time of 2:28.56 while Stevens posted a 2:33.63.

200 Free Relay
For the Women:
The Hawks took home first and second place with the A and B team. The A team swam a 1:45.38 while the B team clocked a 1:53.26.

For the Men:
With a 1:33.43 time, the A team won the event while the B team secured second place with a time of 1:39.58.

UP NEXT
Chowan will travel to Spartanburg, S.C. to compete against Mars Hill and Converse. First event is set to go off at 1:00pm.
