Hawks Fall Short to Bisons at Home

MURFREESBORO, N.C.-The Chowan Men's and Women's Swimming team fell short at home in a dual meet to Howard on Saturday afternoon.

INSIDE THE LANES
200 Medley Relay
For the Women:
The Hawks took home second and third place in the relay. The A team clocked a time of 2:07.71 while the B team touched the wall in 2:16.84

For the Men:
Chowan's A team secured a first place finish with a time of 1:52.90. The B team for the Hawks finished in fourth place with a time of 1:59.10 in the relay.

800 Free
For the Women:
Meghan Allen grabbed second place after she posted a time of 10:29.09. Atar Idrissi and Marissa Mann finished in third and fourth place respectively.

For the Men:
Shaine Olmstead secured second place after he recorded a 9:36.86 race time. Garrett Kirkland and Lucas Pells finished in third and fourth place for the Hawks.

200 Free
For the Women:
Chowan grabbed first, second and third place finishes with Laurie-Ann Sargent, Grace Arredondo, and Jasmine Gibson. Sargent posted a 2:19.27, while Arredondo and Gibson clocked a time of 2:21.84 and 2:22.97.

For the Men:
David Clark posted a time of 2:03.92 to finish in second place while teammate, Kyle Sheridan recorded a 2:28.85 in his heat.

For the Women:
Marissa Mann swam a 36.53 to finish in third overall. Erin Garza posted a 36.97 for Chowan to finish in fourth. 

For the Men:
Taylor Woodard took home a second place finish after he touched the wall in 29.61. Andrew Simmons finished in fourth place with a time of 31.89.

50 Breast
For the Women:
Julia Stegmaier swam a 36.19 in her event while Jeleah Delancy and Mackenzie Lucy clocked a time of 38.55and 39.02 respectively. 

For the Men:
After posting a 32.89 on Saturday, Lucas Pels finished in fourth for the Hawks. Marshall Stevens and Garrett Kirkland finished in fifth and sixth place.

100 Fly
For the Women:
Megan Reid secured the event win after clocking a time of 1:13.54. Keitra Lloyd and Erin finished in third and fourth place for the Hawks. 

For the Men:
Trace Austin and Joshua Weidner grabbed a second and third place finish for the Blue and White. Austin swam a 1:02.32 while Weidner clocked a 1:02.81.

50 Free
For the Women:
After recording a 29.41 Grace Arredondo secured this place while Jeleah Delancy and Sarah Hull finished in fourth and fifth place. 

For the Men:
James Cameron clocked a 25.41 for third place. Jordan Walker finished in sixth place with a 27.62.

100 Free
For the Women:
Jasmine Gibson posted a 1:04.31 to finish in second place. With a time of 1:05.26 Grace Arredondo finished in third overall.

For the Men:
David Clark took home fourth place with a time of 56.14 while Taylor Woodard posted a time of 59.75 for fifth place.

For the Women:
Lauire-Ann Sargent took second for the Blue and White with a time of 1:12.79. Megan Reid finished in fourth overall.

For the Men:
Andrew Simmons won the event with a 1:08.20 for the Hawks.

100 Breast
For the Women:
With a time of 1:18.73, Julia Stegmaier won the event for Chowan. Mackenzie Lucy and Jeleah Delancy finished in fourth and fifth place.

For the Men:
Garrett Kirkland finished in third overall with a time of 1:13.15. Marshall Stevens clocked a time of 1:15.69 for fifth place.

400 Free
For the Women:
For second place, Atar Idrissi recorded a time of 5:02.38. Meghan Allen and Keitra Lloyd also competed for the Hawks.

For the Men:
Shaine Olmstead touched the wall in 4:34.28 while teammate, Kyle Sheridan posted a 5:08.38 for third place.

50 Fly
For the Women:
Jasmine Gibson finished in second overall with a time of 31.38. Megain Reid and Marissa Mann finished in fourth and fifth respectively.

For the Men:
Trace Austin touched the wall in 27.66 for second overall. Joshua Weidner finished in fourth with a 27.81 race time.

200 IM
For the Women:
Laurie-Ann Sargent posted a 2:37.12 for a second place finish while, Erin Garza and Sarah Hull took third and fourth place.

For the Men:
Lucas Pels won his event with a time of 2:22.47 for the Hawks. Kyle Sheridan finished in third with a time of 2:43.42

200 Free Relay
For the Women:
The A team took home second place with Jasmine Gibson, Laurie-Ann Sargent, Julia Stegmaier, and Grace Arredondo with a time of 1:56.14.

The B team was Erin Garza, Meghan Allen, Keitra Lloyd and Atar Idrissi who swam a 2:01.42.

For the Men:
Joshua Weidner, Garrett Kirkland, David Clark, and James Cameron touched the wall in 1:41.17 for the A team.

The B team with Trace Austin, Christopher Starks, Jordan Walker, and Shaine Olmstead clocked a 1:47.70 for the Hawks, 

UP NEXT
The Hawks will hit the road on Saturday, October 26 to travel to Norfolk, Va. for a dual meet against Virginia Wesleyan.
