MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Baseball team will take on familiar former CIAA foe, Virginia State, in a modified series this weekend.
Chowan and Virginia State were slated to play four game this weekend with each hosting a doubleheader. With the impending weather on Saturday, the doubleheader at Virginia State has been postponed. The Hawks will host on Sunday with first pitch at 1pm.

Chowan picked up two wins during the midweek to move a 0.5 games under .500 at 13-14-1 with a blowout win against Barton (15-1) and St. Andrews (9-2).
Harry Markotay leads the team with a .407 batting average and has a 13 game hitting streak. Markotay also leads the team with 46 hits and 28 RBI. Nick Rose and Robert Williams are second on the squad with a .363 and .337 batting average respectively. Marquise Lanier and Julian Lopez rounds out the .300+ batting averages at .306 and .324 respectively.
Bailey Lipscomb and Will Edwards will look for the ball this weekend. Lipscomb is 0-2 on the bump this season in eight appearances. Edwards will look to even his record sitting at 1-2.
TROJAN NOTES
Virginia State is 15-7-1 on the season and ranked #9 in the recent NCBWA Atlantic Regional Poll.
The Trojans have three players above .400 with Aaron Harris leading the team with a .443 batting average. Justin Nase (.415) and Jahleel Sewer (.408) crack the barrier.
Gerald Taylor leads the pitching staff with a 5-1 record and 5.54 ERA.
