MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Men's Tennis Team picks up their third straight NCAA postseason appearance and first in the Southeast Region after claiming the program's first-ever Conference Carolinas Tournament Championship.
The Hawks earned the No. 8 seed in the Southeast Region and will face the top-seeded Columbus State. Chowan appeared in the Atlantic Regionals last season after earning an at-large bid as an independent.

Chowan will face No. 1 seeded Columbus State in the opening round of the NCAA Southeast Regional. USC Aiken (No. 4) and Wingate (No. 5) will play at 1pm.
The winners of each match will face each other on Tuesday, May 1 at 1pm for the right to advance to the NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Sweet 16.
HAWKS HIGHLIGHTS
Chowan moved to 15-7 on the season after picking up their eighth straight victory to claim the Conference Carolinas Men's Tennis Championships in Sumter, S.C. last weekend.
Ghassan Alansi and Adi Kaliakperov lead the Hawks at No. 1 and No. 2 singles with 15 wins on the season. Alansi was named Conference Carolinas First Team All-Conference, while Kaliakperov was selected to the Second Team.
Mateusz Izycki and Rafael Goncalves are 8-0 this season in doubles action.
COLUMBUS STATE COUGARS
Columbus State is ranked #3 in the country and carries a 22-3 overall record. The Cougars are coming off a 5-0 victory over #4 Lander in the Peach Belt Conference Championship.
KP Pannu sits with a 19-3 overall record at No. 1 singles. The Cougars have been tough to beat at home this season recording an 11-1 mark this season.
