MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Softball and Tennis programs will be in action on Thursday, March 29 as the Hawks Softball team takes on Barton on the road and Chowan Tennis hosts Conference Carolinas foe Limestone at the Rose Tennis Complex.

Tennis

The Women's team (preseason favorite) will square off against Limestone (preseason to finish second) at 2pm at the Rose Tennis Complex. The Hawks are 11-3 this season and winners of seven straight matches. CU is 5-0 in Conference Carolinas action. Limestone is 4-6 this season and 4-1 in league action.

On the men's side, Chowan is 7-6 on the season and 3-1 in the league. The Saints are 7-3 and 4-0 in league action.

Polina Novachuk and Cynthia Carrier lead the women's team in doubles after being ranked 38 in the nation. Ghassan Alansi and Adi Kaliakperov checked into the national rankings at #42.

Softball

Chowan travels to Wilson, N.C. to face Barton for the second time this season after the Hawks hosted the Bulldogs to start the season. The Hawks are 17-8 on the season and winners of 10 straight going 10-1 in the month of March. The doubleheader starts at 1pm.

During the winning streak, the Hawks are hitting .395 as a team and led by Beth Walker hitting at a .643 clip. Walker and Lindsey Stigler have hit six home runs each during the streak as Chowan has hit 24 as a squad.
