MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Men's tennis team opened the 2018 Spring playing season with a 9-0 win over Salem on Thursday afternoon.

ON THE COURTS

In Doubles:

The Hawks swept doubles over the Tigers as Adi Kaliakperov and Ghassan Alansi took the number one doubles 8-3.

Rafael Goncalves and Louis Proulx secured the number three doubles 8-2.

Mateusz Izycki and Mariano Yeh fought for the number two doubles victory for the Hawks 9-8 winning the tiebreaker 11-9.

In Singles:

Ghassan Alansi battled back after falling in the first set 6-4 winning 6-2 and 6-3 at No. 1.

Adi Kaliakperov picked up the 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles before Mateusz Izycki dropped a three set loss (7-5, 4-6, 10-6) at No. 3.

Mariano Yeh and Louis Proulx picked up the win at number four and five singles for the Hawks.

Enrique Barge secured the win at the number six position 6-4, 6-1 for the Blue and White.
