CU Swimming Falls to Catawba in Dual Meet

SALISBURY, N.C.- The Chowan Men's and Women's Swim team dropped a dual meet to Catawba on Friday evening.

INSIDE THE LANES
 
200 Medley Relay
 
For the Women:
Chowan took second in the event with a time of 1:56.45 with Sabrine Todd, AnnMarie Spiker, Jasmine Gibson and Jeleah Delancy.
 
For the Men:
The men also claimed second place with Taylor Woodard, Lucas Pels, Joshua Weidner and James Cameron posting a 1:43.54 relay time.
 
1000 Free
 
For the Women:
Marissa Mann placed fourth in the event with a time of 12:07.81, while teammate Keitra Lloyd took fifth after posting a 12:13.51 for Chowan.
 
For the Men:
Shaine Olmstead placed fourth with an 10:43.01 meet time. Donald Bowman finished the race in fifth place after recording an 11:08.27 career best for the Blue and White.
 
200 Free
 
For the Women:
Jasmine Gibson took fourth place with a time of 2:12.26. Sabrine Todd and Taylor Bitting finished fifth and sixth touching the wall at 2:19.44 and 2:33.77 respectively.
 
For the Men:
Justin Lough touched the wall at 1:50.95 to take home second place for the Hawks. Close behind was teammate Trace Austin who finished the event with a time of 1:51.60 for third place.

For the Women:
SheAyre Bowles grabbed a second place finish with a time of 26.50.
 
Anquience Wheeler finished fourth after posting a 27.24 while teammate Jeleah Delancy took fifth overall.
 
For the Men:
James Cameron posted a 23.21 for the Hawks to claim third place.
 
Joshua Weidner and Austin Lawson placed fourth and fifth respectively.
 
200 IM
 
For the Women:
AnnMarie Spiker was the top finisher for the Hawks with a time of 2:22.13 to finish third overall.
 
Erin Garza and Sarah Hull finished fifth and sixth respectively.
 
For the Men:
Lucas Pels touched the wall in 2:08.62 to finish in third for Chowan.
 
Kyle Sheridan also competed for the Hawks finishing in fourth place with a time of 2:26.44.
 
100 Butterfly
 
For the Women:
Chowan took fourth, fifth and sixth place with Jasmine Gibson, Keitra Lloyd and Erin Garza. Gibson recorded a 1:05.33 event time for the Hawks. Lloyd finished with a time of 1:08.23 with Garza touching at 1:11.17.
 
For the Men:
Trace Austin secured third place with a 55.42 while teammate Joshua Weidner posted a 56.12 for fourth place.
 
Donald Bowman also competed for the Hawks recording a 1:00.35 in the event.
 
100 Free
 
For the Women:
SheAyre Bowles finished third in the event with a time of 1:00.17.  Sarah Hull finished fifth for the Hawks.
 
For the Men:
Justin Lough took home the win after posting a 50.03 for the Hawks.
 
Austin Lawson placed fourth after touching the wall in 54.06.
 
100 Backstroke
 

For the Women:
Sabrine Todd touched the wall at 1:07.25 to finish second overall.  Taylor Bitting touched at 1:12.61 for a third place finish.
 
For the Men:
James Cameron placed third after posting a 1:00.31 event time.
 
Taylor Woodard finished in fourth for the Blue and White.
 
500 Free
 
For the Women:
Anquience Wheeler and Marissa Mann finished fourth and fifth overall with times of 5:50.71 and 5:57.93
 
For the Men:
Shaine Olmstead posted a 5:09.38 for a second place overall. Donald Bowman and Kyle Sheridan placed fourth and fifth overall. Bowman swam a 5:30.43 while Sheridan clocked a 5:56.18 for the Hawks.
 
100 Breaststroke
 
For the Women:
AnnMarie Spiker secured the top spot after posting a 1:11.00 for the Hawks. Sarah Hull clocked a time of 1:20.25 for fourth place while Jeleah Delancy posted a 1:20.29 for Chowan.
 
For the Men:
Lucas Pels took home third place with a time of 1:03.8, while Taylor Woodard finished in 1:07.68 for fourth place.
 
400 Free Relay
 
For the Women:
The Hawks finished second touching the wall at 4:05.76 with SheAyre Bowles, Keitra Lloyd, Erin Garza and Marissa Mann.
 
For the Men:
On the men's side Shaine Olmstead, Justin Lough, Trace Austin, and Austin Lawson posted a 3:27.32 for a second place finish.
 
 
UP NEXT
Chowan will jump back in the pool in 2019 as the Hawks travel to Wilson, N.C. to compete in a tri-meet with host Barton and St. Andrews on January 12.
