FARMVILLE, VA- The Chowan University men's tennis team suffered a 6-1 loss to Longwood University on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks slide to a 12-7 on the season with the setback while the Lancers improve to a 12-5 overall record with the victory.

Following the Division I scoring format Longwood University went up 1-0 after doubles play and defeated the Hawks in singles position to secure the 6-1 victory.

In doubles play the Hawks, Farid Hajizada and Adi Kaliakperov fell to Amadeo Blasco and Florian Uffer  6-3 in the number one position. At the number two doubles match Mateusz Izycki and Mariano Yeh dropped to Julian Farthing and Arthur Bardelloto 7-6 (7-4). Louis Proulx and Rafael Goncalves secured the number three doubles match 6-3 to Noah Petralia and Jorge Gomis for the Blue and White. 

Heading into singles competition, Blasco defeated Kaliakperov 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-4) at the number one singles play while, Uffer beat Hajizada 6-2, 6-3 in the number two singles match.  At the number three singles, Izycki fell 6-2, 6-2 to Bardelloto while, Farthing defeated Goncalves 6-4, 6-1 at the number four singles position. Gomis handed Yeh a 6-0, 6-4 loss in the fifth singles play before the Hawks picked up their lone singles victory when Proulx beat Petralia 6-3, 6-4 in the number six position.

The Hawks return to home court on April 11^th when they host Virginia State University in conference play. Match time is scheduled for 3:00pm. This match will also serve as senior day for Chowan.
