Box Score 2 MURFREESBORO, NC - The Chowan University baseball team improved to 8-3 in CIAA play after sweeping a doubleheader from Lincoln University on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks won game one 2-0 and game two 21-5. CU's
Trent Brosdahl hammered two homeruns and tallied seven runs batted in game two's 21-5 win.
Cody Smith picked up his third season win after throwing a three-hit shut out in the first game. He struck out five batters in six innings of work.
Jake Moore picked up his second save of the season after coming in to hold Lincoln off in their final at-bat.
Smith got some run support in the second inning when
Connor Arcobasso drove in
Julian Lopez on a sacrifice fly. They added an insurance run in the bottom of the 5th inning when
Tyler Jones scored on a wild pitch. Jones' score gave the Hawks a 2-0 lead and eventual win.
Chowan was held to two hits in the game. Arcobasso and Jones collected both hits in the game.
The Hawks bats came alive in game two as they pounded out a season-high 19 hits. Brosdahl paced the Hawks with two homeruns and seven runs batted in.
Aaron Flanagan was a perfect 4-4 with an RBI and a run scored while
Harry Markotay went 3-3 with three RBI. Marvin Harrell and Arcobasso each added two hits in the game.
Bailey Lipscomb pitched the second game win after throwing three innings. The win marked Lipscomb's fifth win of the season.
