Box Score MOUNT OLIVE, NC - The Chowan University baseball team dropped game two of theirtwo-game series against #1 University of Mount Olive on Wednesday night. Chowan slipped to 20-22 after suffering the 18-4 loss to the #1 ranked Trojans. The Trojans improved to 38-7 after the midweek win. 

UMO used an 11 run 6th inning to help propel them to the win. The Hawks jumped out to an early 1-0 after plating a run in their first at-bat. Connor Arcobasso scored on a Zack Cooper ground out to get on top 1-0. Matt Kaplan, who started the game on the mound, held the #1 Trojans off the board until the bottom of the 3rd inning when Trae Sweeting scored on a Zach Mozingo single to left field to knot the game at 1-1. The Hawks took a 2-1 lead in the top of the 4th frame when Julian Lopez drove in Harry Markotay on a sacrifice fly but a Drew Ellis two run homerun in the bottom of the 5th gave the Trojans a 3-2 lead. They used an 11 run 6th inning to spread the lead and get the eventual 18-4 win. 

Chowan collected four hits in the game with Marvin Harrell Jr. and Marquise Lanier each getting a hit. Harrell scored a run in the 8th inning after getting on base with a lead off triple. Arcobasso ended the game with a 2-5 plate performance. 

Kaplan suffered the loss on the mound after throwing 5.0 innings. He gave up four runs and four hits to pick up his fourth loss of the season. Jake Moore, Daniel Whitener, Will Edwards, and Corey Fago each pitched in relief of Kaplan. 

The Hawks will get back to action on Saturday, April 22nd when they play host to the Salem International University Tigers. First pitch is slated for 1:00pm at Hawkins Field. April 22nd will serve as Senior Day for eight seniors. They will complete the three-game series with a single game on Sunday, April 23rd.
