NEWPORT NEWS,VA-The Chowan University men's tennis team battled in a loss to Christopher Newport University on Sunday afternoon. The Hawks slide to a 2-4 on the season with the loss, while the Captains improve to 4-2 overall.

In doubles competition, Mateusz Izycki and Mariano Yeh picked up the lone doubles win for the hawks with their 8-6 defeat over Andy Mason and William Trang in the number two match.

Heading into singles play, Christopher Newport led Chowan 2-1. Izycki won the number three singles over Mason 6-0, 6-2 for the Hawks while, Rafael Goncalves defeated Trang 6-2, 6-4 in the number five singles play. Christopher Newport recovered as David Reed picked up the number one singles position over Adi Kaliakperov 7-6 (7-2), 6-1. The Hawks came back in the number two singles match, Farid Hajizada over Justin Cerny 6-1, 6-4, while Louis Proulx dropped to Arttu Fiva in the number six singles 6-1, 7-6 (7-3).NEWPORT NEWS,VA-The Chowan University men's tennis team battled in a loss to Christopher Newport University on Sunday afternoon. With both teams tied 4-4, it was the number four singles position that put the Captain's Dominic Lacombe over Mariano Yeh 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) to secure the final score 5-4 for Christopher Newport.

The Hawks are back in action as they travel to Hilton Head, South Carolina to compete in the Spring Tennisfest, March 4^th through March 10^th.
