WILSON, NC-The Chowan University men's tennis team dropped a 5-4 road match to Barton College on Tuesday afternoon. The Hawks fell to 1-2 on the year while the Bulldogs advanced to 1-3 overall.

At the number one doubles position Mateusz Izycki and Mariano Yeh dropped to Julian Bosch and Jesus Gil 8-6. The Hawks recovered in the number two doubles match when Farid Hajizada and Adi Kaliakperov defeated Yaxi Pintado and Rory Gaydon 9-7. The Bulldogs, Ermanno Galimberti and McKennon Griffin picked up the number three doubles match, 8-2, over Rafael Goncalves and Louis Proulx.

In singles play, Chowan picked up wins in the number one and number two singles matches.  Kaliakperov defeated Julian Bosch 6-4, 6-1 in the number one position while Izycki topped Pintado 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 in the second seeded singles match. At the number three singles Yeh dropped to Gaydon 7-5, 6-0. Galimberti picked up the number four position 6-4, 6-2 over Goncalves for Barton. Hajizada recovered 6-3, 6-3 for the Hawks in the number fifth singles over Jesus Gil. At the number six position Alexandre Alves defeated Louis Proulx 7-6(5), 6-2.

The Hawks return to action on February 17^th as they host the University of Mount Olive. Match time is set for 2:00pm.
