MURFREESBORO- The Chowan University men's tennis team picked up an 8-1 win over Virginia Wesleyan College on Monday afternoon. The Hawks improve to 18-6 with the victory while the Marlins slip to 15-6 on the year with the setback.
In doubles play,
Mariano Yeh and
Mateusz Izycki teamed up for an 8-3 win in the number two doubles position to give Chowan an early lead.

Adi Kaliakperov and
Rafael Goncalves/Louis Proulx earned 8-3 and 8-5 wins, respectively over their opponents to push Chowan ahead 3-0 heading into singles play.
Kalikaperov downed Drew Tomajczyk 6-1, 6-0 in number four singles play before Proulx outlasted Tyler Chang 6-3, 6-1 in the number six spot to secure the victory for the Hawks. Hajizada defeated Graham Wilson 6-2, 6-2 in number one singles play while Goncavles and Izycki each picked up victories in the number three and two singles positions, respectively. Yeh suffered the lone setback of the contest after a three set battle, but Chowan secured the 8-1 victory.
The Hawks return to action April 28
th to compete in the CIAA Championship. Additional details will be released as they become available.
