Box Score MOUNT OLIVE, NC- The Chowan University baseball team suffered a 16-2 setback against the University of Mount Olive on Wednesday evening. The Hawks move to 22-22 on the season with the loss while the Trojans improve to 24-17 on the year with the win.
Mount Olive got the momentum rolling early as the Trojans used six hits and one Chowan error to plate seven runs the bottom of the second. The Hawks surrendered four runs in the both the third and fourth innings to fall behind 15-0. A Mount Olive error in the sixth put Chowan on the board.
Holding a 15-1 advantage in the seventh, the Trojans took advantage of a Hawk error to take a commanding 16-1 lead. The Hawks mustered one additional run in the eighth behind
Aaron Akers' RBI single before falling to the Trojans 16-2.
Eleven Mount Olive players combined for 16 hits in the victory. Chowan totaled eight hits in the contest led by
Wade Wyatt Jr. with two hits in the setback. Akers,

Emory Chopp,
Jack Downum,
Aaron Flanagan, and
Will Gurganus each recorded base hit knocks for the Chowan Blue and White.
Bailey Lipscomb took the loss on the mound after surrendering six hits and seven runs (six earned) in 1.1 innings of work.

Carter Siweck,
Will Edwards, and Downum all entered the contest in-relief.
Ethan Horne earned the win for Mount Olive. He held the Hawks to six hits and one unearned run over six innings of work.
