MURFREESBORO- The Chowan University men's tennis team handed the Virginia State University Trojans a 9-0 setback on Wednesday.  The Hawks improve to 15-6 overall and 6-0 in CIAA play with the win while the Trojans slide to 7-6 on the year and 4-5 against CIAA opponents with the setback. 

In doubles play, Farid Hajizada/Adi Kaliakperov teamed up for an 8-2 win over Sultan Kenes/Jonathon Fuchs in the number one position while Mariano Yeh/Mateusz Izycki topped Marcus Smith/Delwin McCurdy 8-0 in the number two spot.  Louis Proulx/Rafael Goncalves defeated Alexander Walker/Keon Hailey 8-1 in number three doubles to give the Hawks a 3-0 lead heading into singles play. 

The Hawks continued the momentum into singles play with every player in the lineup earning a win against their opponent. 

Chowan returns to action on Thursday as the Hawks play host to Virginia Union University.  First serve is slated for 1:00pm.
