Box Score AIKEN, SC- The Chowan University baseball team suffered an 18-1 setback against USC-Aiken on Tuesday evening. The Hawks fall to 6-11 on the season with the loss while the Pacers improve to 15-4 on the year with the victory.
Chowan plated their lone run of the game in the top of the first when
Tanner Woods scored on a wild pitch. In the bottom of the second, Tyler Ammerman's RBI single for USC-Aiken knotted the score 1-1. An RBI single by Max Schoen followed by Mitchell Price's sacrifice fly pushed the Pacers ahead 3-1 in the bottom of the third.
USC-Aiken took advantage of three hits and two errors to plate five runs in the bottom of the fifth and scored five additional runs in the sixth to take a commanding 13-1 lead. Ammerman's sacrifice fly in the seven left the Hawks trailing 14-1 and a four-run eighth inning gave USC-Aiken all they would need to secure the 18-1 victory.
Schoen led the Pacers offensively with three hits while Chaz Pal recorded three RBI in the victory. Hunter Hubbard threw four innings on the mound with Connor Riley entering the contest in-relief and earning the victory. He pitched two innings in the contest and struck out three Chowan batters.
Will Edwards took the loss on the mound for the Hawks. He tossed three innings in the setback and surrendered three runs (three earned) off of three hits.

The Hawks and Pacers square off again on Wednesday in a single nine-inning game. First pitch is slated for 6:00pm.
