MURFREESBORO - The Chowan University men's tennis team picked up a 9-0 regional win over Fairmont State University on Monday afternoon. The Hawks advance to an overall 8-6 record with the victory, while the Fighting Falcons drop to a 3-7 overall record after the loss.

In doubles play, Chowan won all three doubles matches with a score of 8-3 to lead 3-0 heading into singles play. At the number one doubles position, Farid Hajizada and Adi Kaliakperov defeated Micah  Hornak and Aaron Leo. Mateusz Izycki and Mariano downed Zach Hatfield and Noah Weber in the number two position and Rafael Goncalves and Louis Proulx teamed up for a win over Ryan Leo and Alec Moran at the number three doubles spot.

The Hawks then breezed through each singles match in straight sets to take the 9-0 victory. The clinching match came at number four singles where Kaliakperov was victorious over Moran with a score of 6-1, 6-3, improving his singles win streak to seven.

The Hawks return to action on March 17th when they travel to Petersburg, Virginia and take on conference foe, Virginia State University.
