NORFOLK, VA- The Chowan University men's tennis team fell to Norfolk State University 6-1 in nonconference play on Monday afternoon. The Hawks fall to 9-10 on the season with the loss while the Spartans improve to 7-12 on the year with the victory.

Farid Hajizada and
Rafael Goncalves 8-2 in number one doubles play while
Danilo Galovic and
Tristan Martin dropped an 8-1 decision in the number two spot.
Sasha Kirsanov and
Ivan Doubograev came up short with an 8-4 loss in the number three position.
With a 1-0 lead after doubles play using the NCAA Division I scoring system, the Spartans defeated the Hawks in five out of the six singles positions. Goncavles and Hajizada both dropped 6-3, 6-0 decisions in number one and two singles play, respectively, while Pejic picked up a win by retirement over Doubograev.
Enrique Barge fell to Daniel Grauel 6-1, 6-0 while Singh clipped Martin in tiebreaker play.
Carlos Ramirez picked up the lone victory of the afternoon for the Hawks with an 8-6 win over Shaheed Mourillon in the sixth position.
Chowan returns to CIAA play on April 7
th with a 3:00pm contest against Virginia State University.
