Box Score 2 RALEIGH, NC- The Chowan University baseball team split a pair of games against Saint Augustine's University on Sunday afternoon in CIAA action.  The Hawks move to 14-14 on the season and 5-5 in league play after the contests while the Falcons post an 11-15 overall record and 1-1 mark in CIAA play at the conclusion of Sunday's games.  Chowan defeated Saint Augustine's 5-2 in the opening game but fell to the Falcons 4-2 in the nightcap. 
After a scoreless two innings of play in the opening game, the Hawks came alive to score three runs in the top of the third to take an early lead.  An error by the Falcons followed by 
Tanner Woods' sacrifice fly resulted in a 3-0 advantage for the Chowan Blue and White.  The Falcons answered with two runs in the bottom of the fourth thanks to Carey Cheek's two-run single through the right side. 
The Hawks added two insurance runs in the top of the sixth with a Saint Augustine's error and sacrifice fly by 
Tyler Burden before securing the 5-2 victory in game win.  
Evan Hart went the distance for the Hawks on the mound.  He held the Falcons to two runs (one earned) and three hits over seven innings of work while collecting eight strikeouts.  
Will Gurganus tallied two of the Hawks' five hits in the opening contest while Burden, 
Blake Eure and 
Marvin Harrell Jr. all had base hit knocks in the win. 
Desmond Cheek took the loss on the mound for Saint Augustine's.  He threw 5.2 innings for the Falcons while surrendering five runs on five hits. 
In game two, 
Stephen Hux put the Hawks on the board in the top of the second with an RBI single to right field.  The Falcons took advantage of an error and wild pitch to knot the score in the bottom of the third.   Burden's infield single in the top of the fourth returned the lead to the Chowan Blue and White before Saint Augustine's plated three runs in their half of the frame using a double steal, RBI double by Jason Baytop and infield single by Roberto Rivera.  
The Hawks were unable to overcome the deficit and suffered the 4-2 loss in the nightcap.  
Austin McGhee threw 3.2 innings in the loss and gave up four runs (three earned) on four hits.  
Bobby Mason entered the contest in-relief and surrendered one hit in 2.1 innings of work.  
Aaron Flanagan tallied two hits at the plate with Burden, Harrell, Hux and 
Josh Martin also notching hits in the contest. 
Jeremy Sandifer earned the win on the mound and tossed all seven innings in the win for Saint Augustine's.  He scattered six hits while allowing two earned runs in the win.  Five different Falcons accounted for five hits in the victory. 
Saint Augustine's and Chowan will conclude the CIAA series on Monday afternoon in a doubleheader match-up.  Please note the location has been moved to USA Baseball Complex in Cary, North Carolina.  First pitch is now scheduled for 12:00pm.
