FARMVILLE, VA- The Chowan University men's tennis team suffered a 7-0 setback to Longwood University on Wednesday evening. The Hawks slide to 6-9 on the season with the loss while the Lancers improve to 3-12 with the win.
Longwood swept the Hawks in doubles play to grab an early 1-0 lead. Following the Division I scoring format, the Lancers defeated Chowan in each singles position to secure the 7-0 victory.

Farid Hajizada and
Rafael Goncalves fell to Daniel Elston and Steed Johnson 8-0. Duo

Ivan Doubograev and tandem
Carlos Ramirez and
Enrique Barge fell to their opponents 8-3 in the second and third doubles positions, respectively.
Elston handed Hajizada a 6-1, 6-2 setback at the number one singles spot while Alfonso Castellano clipped Goncalves 6-2, 7-5 in the number two position. Doubograev fell to Florian Uffer 6-4, 6-3 in the third position while Barge dropped a 6-1, 6-0 decision to Johnson. Bharani Sankar handed
Tristan Martin a 6-3, 4-6 (10-4) setback in the fifth position while Rosen Ilchev topped
Sasha Kirsanov 6-1, 6-4 in the sixth spot.
The Hawks look to recover on Sunday when they travel to the campus of Hampden-Sydney. Chowan will face Roanoke College at 1:00pm and Hampden-Sydney at 4:00pm.
