PETERSBURG, VA- The Chowan University men's tennis team picked up their second straight win on Thursday afternoon in a 9-0 win against Virginia State University. The Hawks improve to 5-8 on the year and 4-0 in CIAA play with the victory. The Trojans slip to 3-1 overall and 3-1 in the league.
Chowan rolled through Virginia State in doubles and singles play.
Farid Hajizada and
Rafael Goncalves toppled Nicholas Pfab and Elia Dreir 8-1 in the number one spot while
Ivan Doubograev and
Danilo Galovic handed Nicholas Brown and Evan Dirksen an 8-5 setback in the number two position.
Tristan Martin and
Sasha Kirsanov picked up an 8-4 win in the third spot.
In singles play, Hajizada defeated Pfab 6-1, 6-0 in the number one position. Goncalves and Doubograev hung on to top their opponents in the second and third positions. In the fourth and fifth spots,
Enrique Barge and
Tristan Martin picked up victories.
Carlos Ramirez blanked Dirksen 6-0, 6-0.
The Hawks return to action on March 21
st and 22
nd when they compete in the CIAA Round-Up in Murfreesboro.
