HILTON HEAD, SC - The CU men's tennis team dropped their third straight match on Tuesday after falling to the University of Charleston 6-3. The Golden Eagles swept the Hawks 3-0 on the doubles side of the match and took the #3, #4, and #6 seeded singles matches for the 6-3 win over Chowan. The Hawks fall to 3-7 after the loss. Chowan will compete in one more match at the Hiton Head Challenge before heading home to host the University of Mount Olive on Sunday, March 15th. 

Farid Hajizada and Rafael Goncalves lost the #1 seeded doubles match to UC's Alec Foote and Dennis Okoth 8-4. Teammates Ivan Doubograev and Danilo Galovic dropped the #2 seeded doubles match 8-4 to James Gammell and Jacob Lorenz. Tristan Martin and Carlos Ramirez fell to Nic Bakos and Varun Shah 8-4 in the #3 seeded doubles match. 

After dropping the first set of the #1 seeded singles match, CU's Hajizada battled back to win 1-6, 7-5, and 6-2. Hajizada improves to 9-2 on the year after his singles match win. Gongalves picked up his fifth singles match win of the year after beating Okoth in straight sets 6-4, 7-5. 

Doubograev dropped the #3 singles match 6-1, 6-1 to Gammell while Martin fell in three sets to Lorenz, 6-7 (1), 7-5, 6-1. Enrique Barge picked up his first season win after downing Bakos in three sets, 6-2, 4-6, and 7-6 (3), in the 5th seeded singles match. 

Sasha Kirsanov fell in straight sets 6-1, 6-3 in the #6 seeded singles match to UC's Jamie Gibson. 

The Hawks will play West Liberty University on Friday, March 13th to round out their play at the Hilton Head Tennis Challenge. They will return home to host the University of Mount Olive on Sunday, March 15th at 1:00pm.
